Through the Canal!

With the help of some friends from California, Sirocco is now in the Pacific for the first time in her life! We had a very nice trip through the canal after an equally nice time moored in Lake Gatun. The howler monkeys are still there and they still get really upset when diesel trucks drive by on the road. The canal is also a lot more enjoyable when you have an engine that runs well and you aren't worried about it heating up the whole time.

Sirocco now has two new crew members as Ed has returned to California. Aimee is a 50 ton captain and her boyfriend Jed lives on his Newport 35 in the Bay. They will be with us until Puerto Chiapas in Mexico. There they will fly back to the bay on February 7th.

On the way from here to Puerto Chiapas we are going to stop at a few places, the most exciting of which will be Bahia del Sol in El Salvador. Other stops will be determined by how much motoring we have to do because the winds between here and there can be very light. We will be coastal cruising the whole way, just hugging the coast riding the land breezes and stopping if a place looks interesting. Should have some great pictures but won't be able to post them for a few weeks until we get to El Salvador. Using my iPhone to post pictures is apparently impossible, so I'll post a link to a google album after this.
